What this Election is About Print E-mail

The Member for Lane Cove, Anthony Roberts MP said today that “The biggest risk facing NSW at this election is that nothing changes.”

“Our economy is on the brink of recession, our budget is in deficit, our housing sector in crisis and we have a water crisis brought about by twelve years of Labor failing to plan and act,” Mr Roberts said.

“And despite paying more tax per person than anywhere else in the country, our hospitals, transport and numerous other services are just not up to standard.

“We’re paying more, and getting less.

“Locally for example, we have seen a cut back in transport, police and hospital services but we are still paying record levels of taxation.

“Yet at the State election, Labor will be asking you to give them another chance and will re-promise things like proper policing which should have been done years ago.

“Labor are paralyzed by their own scandals and totally distracted from fixing the many problems they created.

“After 12 years Labor has had long enough.

“Just like last time with Bob Carr, Labor will promise to get it right this time.

“But if Labor is re-elected, the same old faces - Michael Costa, Joe Tripodi and Frank Sartor - will all be sitting around the Cabinet table making the decisions that will affect your future for another four years.

“We don’t have to imagine what life will be like if Labor is re-elected on March 24. We already know, everyone has put up with it for twelve years.

“Giving Labor 16 years is a risk NSW can’t afford.

“The Liberal Nationals have a straightforward plan to get NSW back in front.

“Our plan contains straight-forward proposals to deliver basic services, restore our economy, tackle our water crisis and build the infrastructure NSW needs to grow.

“Locally, we have already announced our transport policy” Mr Roberts said.

“Our policies are fully funded and fully costed and you can see them all at www.peterdebnam.com.au.

"Our local area is a great place to live, but we can’t afford to take it for granted.

If we don’t get a change of government, the local consequence will be ongoing water crisis, no police station, no restoration of bus services, infrastructure blowouts or overruns,” Mr Roberts said today.

“You can’t fix New South Wales by re-electing Labor.

“The only way to get New South Wales back in front is to change the Government by voting Liberal.

“So on March 24, I will be asking the voters of the Electorate of Lane Cove to join with me to make the change New South Wales needs”.
