ICAC on Fire Over Corruption Print E-mail

The ICAC Inquiry into two NSW Fire Brigade Managers, who it is alleged paid themselves an estimated $2.5 million by rorting NSW Fire Brigade tender processes, highlights the stench of corruption surrounding the Iemma Labor Government, Shadow Minister for Emergency Services Anthony Roberts said today.

The inquiry heard today the pair used their own or fake companies in tender processes, these contracts were allegedly valued at $6 million of which they kept around $2.5 million.

“This Labor Government has brought us corruption in the railways, corruption in councils and now we have corruption in the NSW Fire Brigade, where will it end?” Mr Roberts asked.

“The Iemma Labor Government has failed the people of NSW in the areas of government honesty and good management and the people of NSW are fed up with the continuing spin, cover up and lies,” he said.

“If these allegations are proven, those involved have brought shame upon the NSW Fire Brigade and the wonderful firemen and women who put their lives at risk everyday to save people’s lives.

“Across a range of portfolios, Morris Iemma and his Government Minister have failed to crack down on corrupt activities.

“Only the NSW Liberal/Nationals will bring better government to the people of NSW.

“Labor are now so arrogant and out of touch, they turn a blind eye to the conditions conducive to corruption that have been allowed to fester under their administration,” Mr Roberts said.
