The Member for Lane Cove, the Hon. Anthony Roberts, has a warning for those booking summer get-a-ways – "do your checks and balances."

Mr Roberts, who is also the NSW Minister for Fair Trading, says your holiday should be "stress free, not stressful."

"It's around this time of the year that families are firming up their plans to get away and relax after the rigors of this past year."

"If you are booking transport, accommodation or tours," says Mr Roberts, "book through well-known, accredited, agents."

"The internet can be the saviour or wrecker of vacations. Anyone can setup a page, make it look appealing, then disappear with your hard earned dollars." says Mr Roberts.

"If you are making bookings deal through an Agent with an honest reputation and a street address."

"Should you be flying to a destination you can and should check your booking online. Likewise any accommodation or side tour bookings."

"Travel overseas might require vaccinations – if yes, making a booking with your family GP."

"Insurance for the traveller is another mind easing safeguard against illness, abnormal weather, mechanical breakdowns or union action."

"Enjoy your time away, with the knowledge you've done everything right before you leave home," concluded Mr Roberts.
