Anthony Roberts MP, Member for Lane Cove said today the people of the Electorate of Lane Cove would be the big winners from Opposition Leader Peter Debnam’s announcement to free up $4.5 billion tied up in employing backroom Sydney bureaucrats, by using this money to employ more nurses, teachers and police and other critical priorities.

The Iemma-Costa Labor Government’s announcement that it will pay $25 million to the operators to delay surface road works associated with the Lane Cove Tunnel was an outrageous misuse of taxpayers’ funds to try and buy Labor an electoral advantage at the State election, Anthony Roberts MP, Member for Lane Cove, said today.

Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Waste Watch Anthony Roberts said today the funds wasted on hiring three more government spin doctors for the Natural Resources Department would be far better going towards extra mental health officers in rural and regional NSW.
