Anthony John Roberts, MP DATE OF BIRTH: 19 April 1970 Anthony Roberts has a long history of serving the Community, dealing with local issues and problems, and has a strong record of achieving results. Having served on Lane Cove Council as a Councillor for almost 9 years including one term as Deputy Mayor and two terms as Mayor, Anthony is very much in touch with the issues that matter most to his community. Anthony was elected as the Member for Lane Cove in 2003 and re-elected again in 2007, bringing with him to Parliament a broad outlook on life and a straightforward, commonsense approach to finding solutions. He has been a strong and passionate advocate for our community, not just at a state level but also on pressing local issues. Anthony has fought for the protection of public lands from sale to developers, full filtration of the Lane Cove Tunnel and against the overdevelopment of our suburbs. Following the 2007 Election Anthony was reappointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition a position he had previously held since 2005. In April 2007 Anthony was appointed to the Public Accounts Committee, Parliament's oldest and most influential committee tasked with scrutinising the Executive arm of Government. In May 2008 Anthony was appointed Shadow Minister for Emergency Services and Shadow Minister for Juvenile Justice. Anthony held the key opposition portfolio of Chairman of the Wastewatch Committee until his appointment as a Shadow Minister. The Lane Cove Electorate comprises 15 suburbs and Anthony attempts to meet with as many of his constituents as time permits. An enjoyable part of Anthony's job is meeting with constituents both in and out of his Electorate Office. Anthony is always happy to discuss matters of concern or to assist in any way possible. Anthony considers it an extreme privilege to serve the people within the Electorate of Lane Cove and New South Wales. Please contact Anthony's office should you require assistance or if you would like to make an appointment.
